The Best of Reader Submissions 2018

Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate Christmas! And, Happy Holidays to all! May the coming year be filled for you with peace, happiness, and pleasant surprises.

2018 didn't have quite as many reader submissions but they were all excellent. Plus, there was a last minute burst of submissions so there are going to be several reader image debuts in this post! I'm looking forward to another flood of new submissions in 2019.

On a sober note, 2018 was a hard year. A rollercoaster even. Speaking personally, there were upheavals and fallen comrades. Globally there were tragedies, violence and strife. Be gentle with one another as we embark on our next, hopefully brighter chapter.

Now who wants to see your fellow readers decked out in their fundoshi?
Tom:

Tom had a wonderful tumblr blog which was deactivated earlier this year. I suspect it was because other bloggers kept stealing his images without asking or giving him credit. He was kind to share images with all of us, and though I've lost touch since his tumblr disappeared I want to extend the invitation to Tom: any time you'd like to share your photos, just let me know!

Anonymous:

This submission was a surprise. Look at the amazing expanse of sea this individual is privileged to see as they bask in their royal blue fundoshi. We'd love to see more from you, mystery man!

lb1967Spain:

Another friend met via tumblr, lb1967Spain photographs exceptionally well. I've selected some of his black and white images to showcase his crisp white fundoshi. He knows how to frame his fit hairy body perfectly, and the white fundoshi highlights his masculine allure.

Doug Edwards:

Doug also reached our to me via tumblr, and displayed a fresh and easy grasp of what makes fundoshi such an ideal male garment. I especially adored this jewel-toned stained glass fabric bisecting his butt cheeks and cradling his loins. Very imaginitive fabric choice!

Brand New Offerings

Sam:

Sam has an artist's eye and a masculine furred body that his fundoshi accents superbly. He's been featured here before, and if my wish comes true will be featured here frequently! Every time I receive new photos from Sam, a thrill courses through my body. I return to these images all the time and they never fail to provoke a reaction.

JC:

J is someone I've enjoyed corresponding with on and off for several years. Until the tumblr ban was announced, he was authoring an excellent loincloth-themed tumblr blog called fundoshi-doshi, which covered a wide range of minimal garments, including his own handmade creations. Below you can see some cotton gauze rokushaku fundoshi, plus a langot and an ettchu fundoshi sewn from thrift ed fabrics. This was an excellent blog and I hope he finds a new outlet. Until then, I'm very happy to present some of his fundoshi and other loincloths here!

Svadisthana:

Regular readers will recognize Svadisthana. But... have you seen his latest blog offering? "Svadisthana V" is a collection of 50 posts exploring the fundoshi from a variety of angles. He's a long time supporter of this blog and an encouraging presence from the far side of the globe who has taken fundoshi blogging in many new directions that all branch off from his spiritual worldview. I learn something from Svadisthana every time we speak.

That's it for this year! Let's wear even more fundoshi next year and celebrate this nearly perfect garment!

Ladies and all others, you're invited too! Although fundoshi is traditionally considered masculine, we don't live in a world of simplistic binaries anymore.

As always, don't copy these images without permission from the owners because -- let's not mince words -- that's rude. And invasive, and selfish, and antisocial. Okay I hope you get the point: respect the individuals that make this blog special... and this blog will continue being special!

And now, we pillory Tumblr:

Tumblr's ill-reasoned abandonment of a huge portion of their content creators is writ large over the last month of 2018. Pure cowardice, in my opinion; and a smokescreen attempting to cover their failure to police child pornography, porn bots, and hate speech on their platform. I'm embarrassed on their behalf at their ham-fisted self-inflicted death blow. It's a classic case of deflection by scapegoating.

I hope tumblr bloggers who enjoy fundoshi will find Fundoshi4All a welcoming blog where they can interact with other fundoshi enthusiasts. Please subscribe, share, +1, comment and feel welcome to express yourself.

Thank you to everyone who wore a fundishi this year, even if no one knew you were wearing it. Have a wonderful day, and we will speak again in 2019!

Wear it, share it!
