These fliers are all from a fundoshi-themed bar called Zakoza, one of several in east Tokyo's famed Asakusa district.

It would be a lot of fun to try one of those places just to hang out with other guys in fundoshi. It's cool that the fundoshi cult is so vibrant and alive in Japan. I'd really like to visit one of these places.
I wonder what it would take to have a place like this in the US? I'm guessing it would be far easier just to have private fundoshi parties than it would be to have it somewhere public, especially if liquor were served. But it can't be too different than underwear night at a bar.
I think I'd be sort of shocked if there weren't enough people who like fundoshi in the New York area to have a party! This would be an interesting idea to investigate.
Well, this is an idea. I have seven fundoshi friends and four acquaintances I'd like to get to know better. When the weather warms up, this might be a great way to get together, have some food, some drinks and just relax. It would also build confidence in being seen only in a fundoshi and I think that would be constructive and reaffirming.
I think that'd be an excellent way to spread the word. maybe theme it somehow, like serve hot sake or get some of that dot pattern fabric so that everyone could make a new fundoshi to take home with them.
Excellent idea! Thanks! We can all make and tie on a new fundoshi and all being the same pattern would be kind of a group-affirmation thing. It will also mean everyone getting naked to change in kind of a male bonding locker room sort of way. If anyone gets erect, there can be a surprise liter can of Asahi beer for that guy or guys to turn any embarrassment into a prize. Yep, gotta do this!

And a party would be good, as you say, but is there a critical mass for one, say in the NYC area or NJ.
