Tie One On!

One thing I can never get enough of is pictures and videos of people getting their fundoshi tied on.  Every pull and cinch of the cloth translates into a physical sensation for me -- I can almost feel the fabric sliding against my skin, tightening and snugging around me.

A lot of these photographs fall into that "the best camera is the one you have with you" category -- camera phones, lo-res screen captures, etc. that capture the moment but maybe in a grainy, blurry, or low contrast fashion.  On the one hand, it's less than perfect.  On the other hand, it kind of  jump starts your imagination to complete the obscured parts of the scene -- and it empowers those of us who may not be so hot with a shutter to click away when our tools are just a camera, a mirror, and a fundoshi.

Who'd be interested in a fundoshi photography contest?  What should the prize be?  What rules?  How should we pick the winner(s)?

Is it more fun to be the tie-er or tie-ee? smooth out the rope of cloth settling it around a man's gear and between his cheeks or feel it done to one.

That's the question really! I think some experimentation may be in order.

Here's a couple fellows who seem a little confused about how to tie their fundoshis on, but give eachother a helping hand: http://www.heydouga.com/moviepages/4101/059/index.html

I love how Japanese men seem so comfortable with tying fundoshis on each other! I would love to be either the tie-er or the tie-ee, taking turns with a friend :)

I have hosted three fundoshi parties so far and especially the first time, we were all kind of new to it, but the second two were lots of fun, especially with a newbie or two. As westerners we are not used to getting in a group and taking off our clothes, so that nervousness has to get out of the way. Yeah, there were partial and full erections. I had one of them. I had decided ahead of time to hand out a one liter can of Asahi beer to anyone who became erect and after the first prize was awarded, everyone relaxed and I ended up giving out a lot of beer. :) But learning to tie a fundoshi was fun! Comments such as "This can't be right" were heard, along with, "Do you want to be up or down?" The nervousness just goes away and tying tips become the topic of conversation. Then the revelation hits that this is really, really comfortable, supportive but like it's not even there and once that happens, everyone is a convert.
