Excellent pics, and interesting that I'm sitting here in a black fundoshi as I read this. I wish there were more places in the US where you could appear in public in a fundoshi without hesitation.
Truly. It seems in Japan, it's no big deal -- especially for the matsuri, but even randomly (on the train or in a street performance) seems to all be taken in stride. And I'm sure no one bats an eye at the beach!
