Basic White
Not only is white the most traditional color for fundoshi -- the color of purity -- but it is one of the most flattering colors. Even the fairest skin stands out against white fabric. Should you be darker-skinned, a white fundoshi will fairly glow.
White is also worn during memorials and funerals in Japan. I believe this also has to do with its representation of purity.
